55% of Canadians report having excellent or very good mental health
According to Statistics Canada, the percentage of Canadians reporting excellent or very good mental health fell to 55% in July 2020. In 2019, it was 68%. July 2020 marked the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic… the health crisis has impacted our mental health.
The team at Manoir D’Youville in Châteauguay is interested in this government data. The establishment, managed by the Fondation Compagnom, offers its clients much more than accommodation service and room rental. It has supported organizations working in mental health since 2013. How? By offering them a rate reduction of 30% to 100% on Manoir services. To your health!
In 2021, accessibility to the site was expanded to include charitable organizations from all sectors of activity. “With the pandemic came new problems for the population. We wanted to help women who were victims of violence, people living with homelessness and much more,” indicated Jean-Martin Côté, general manager of Manoir D’Youville and president of the Fondation Compagnom.
$100,000 for caregivers and the hospital sector
Profits from the Fondation Compagnom are returned to the community. The organization pays $100,000 each year to its region. It supports, among others, caregivers and hospital sector users, two target groups that engage the Manoir. “They recall for me the mission of the Grey Nuns who inhabited the site of the Manoir D’Youville for nearly 200 years. The sisters helped people in the hospital. We may help 10, 15 or 20 people, but we have an impact on them. We make a difference,” explained Côté.
The Manoir’s contributions to the community go well beyond welcoming representatives from community organizations under its roof. The hotel team in collaboration with the CSSS de la Montérégie-Ouest provides a workplace for 10 people suffering from a health condition related to mental health. The Manoir also collaborates in various community partner projects that foster the integration of people for whom mental health is a daily issue. To your health!
